Identification
Lithobius is a difficult genus and at least 17 species are known from Britain and Ireland.
Lithobius lucifugus is one of seven 'smaller species' with 2 + 2 forcipular teeth that lack backward projections on tergites 9, 11 and 13. This is a light brown medium sized species (to 17 mm body length).

Distribution and Habitat
First recorded from Edinburgh in 1989 (Barber, 1995), Lithobius lucifugus is known from a handful of coastal sites in Scotland, all associated with human activity, such as kirkyards and greenhouses.
