Identification

Thereuonema tuberculata is an introduced casual species (so far only seen once) of almost identical appearance to Scutigera coleoptrata.

It differs in being overall rather darker and with six pairs of contrasting rounded orange tubercles along its dorsal surface.

This species is not included within the published identification keys Tony Barber (2008 & 2009).

Distribution and Habitat

Thereuonema tuberculata was recorded as a casual introduction in 2010 from a warehouse in Swindon (Barber, 2011).

It is native to China, the Korean peninsula, and Japan and has recently been identified as an introduced species in in the eastern United States.
