Setaphora patiencei is a very small woodlouse, reaching up to 3 mm, and is violaceous brown mottled with white in colour.  The three distinct flagella segments distinguish it from similar sized and shaped styloniscid woodlice (which have a tapering cone-shaped flagella with a terminal bristle).

Distribution and Habitat

Early in the 20th Century Setaphora patiencei was recorded from heated glasshouses at Kew Gardens, and subsequently found at Winlanton, Durham. It has not been refound. 

In 'the wild' it is known from Mauritius and Réunion.
