Schendyla zonalis Brölemann & Ribaut, 1911

Doubtfully record in UK.

ID Difficulty

Very similar in appearance to the common S. nemorensis, but differs in a number of subtle characters.

More information to allow accurate identification is given in the published identification keys by Tony Barber (2008 & 2009).

Distribution and Habitat

A species of doubtful status in the British Isles, with no confirmed records in recent years. It was recorded from the coasts of Devon and Dorset in the 1930s, but possibly in error.

Elsewhere records of this species are scattered across Europe from the Iberian peninsula in the south west to Ukraine in the east, including southern France.

This account is based on the 'Centipede Atlas' (Barber, 2022).
